NASA Max Launch Abort System

Max Launch Abort System
I think I fell in love with this vehicle when I first laid eyes on it.

Launch Site: Wallops Flight Test Facilty Virigina.

Launch Date: MLAS launched at 6:26 a.m. on July 8, 2009.
The launch was a complete success.

This NASA vehicle made me look twice,
It appears to be a working flight version of my rocket sketch symbol from the early 1970's.

Beautiful form, like one of the old moon ships, from an old sci-fi story, or,
Steve Zodiac's Fireball XL5. (image pending)

For some reason, I feel sort of fond of it. :-P

Max Launch Abort System

The Max Launch Abort System was successfully tested in a simulated pad abort test at NASA's
Wallops Flight Facility.

Test Rocket Video

It has a name, 'Max'.
Cute little rocket, son of 'Little Joe'.

Russian Dolls also came to mind, one parachute after another.
